Managing South East Queensland's Water Grid
The South East Queensland Water Grid Manager (SEQWGM) - which launches operations in July - will maintain regional water security and ensure enough water supplies are maintained throughout the SEQ region.
Its chief roles and functions are:
- Strategic Water Grid Management
- Regional Management of Risk
- Water Market Facilitation
- Governance and Reporting
- Information Clearinghouse
The SEQWGM will fulfill its water security commitment by:
- Overseeing the efficient management of the SEQ Water Grid under a new System Operating Plan (SOP);
- Delivering water to customers in accordance with their contracts;
- Co-ordinating water supply by identifying and directing water from preferred sources;
- Monitoring demand and supply trends to ensure the water balance is maintained;
- Issuing monthly Grid instructions to water service providers;
- Reporting on the operation of the Water Grid and the water security position to the QWC and community; and
- Facilitating risk management across the Water Grid.
