Our governance

The Water Grid Manager is a statutory body established under the South East Queensland Water (Restructuring) Act 2007.

We are governed by an independent Board reporting to two responsible Ministers:

• the Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development
• the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade.

The functions of our organisation are also governed by the following legislation and regulation:

• Water Act 2000
• South East Queensland System Operating Plan (System Operating Plan)  
• The Market Rules SEQ Water Market (Market Rules) 
• Financial Administration and Audit Act 1977 
• Statutory Bodies Financial Arrangements Act 1982.

Our corporate governance framework complies with the Queensland Government’s State Water Authorities Governance Framework 2008.

The SEQ Water Grid Manager Board (Board) has five members who are responsible for ensuring our organisation achieves its performance outcomes in an effective and efficient way.

During our first year of operations (2008–09) our inaugural Board members included the three previous Queensland Water Commissioners and an independent member, Gary Humphrys.

A permanent independent Board was appointed on 1 July 2009.
