Our organisation

The Water Grid Manager was established on 2 May 2008 and started operation on 1 July 2008, as the part of the Queensland Government’s institutional reform of South East Queensland’s water industry. We were established under the South East Queensland Water (Restructuring) Act 2007.

While we are part of the Queensland Government, we operate as a not-for-profit statutory authority, adopting commercial principles where practicable, with an independent Board.

We report to the Queensland Parliament through two responsible Ministers:

• the Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development
• the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade.
