Our strategy
The Water Grid Manager's Strategic Plan outlines the medium to long-term strategies, and guides our business. We also produce an annual Operational Plan that guides our short-term business activities and acts as a performance agreement between our Board and the responsible Ministers.
A number of business drivers influence the strategic planning direction for 2010–14:
- maintaining water security and monitoring quality
- implementing the South East Queensland water market and building institutional capacity
- achieving regulatory compliance
- harnessing technology to work smarter
- delivering operational efficiency
- delivering consistent communications.
We are using a ‘balanced scorecard’ approach as a framework for our strategy, to combine management and measurement in an overall quality process of ‘measure, manage, improve and re-measure’. It's an integrated process that combines planning, budgeting and performance management activities.
Based on this approach, our business strategy is built on four priority areas:
- provision of water security
- operational efficiency
- customer and stakeholder satisfaction
- innovative people and capable culture and systems.
It is these four priority areas, working together, that are the key to our success in delivering our core business.
